How and when do you listen to podcasts?

I live in New York City, so I spend a lot of time in transit. That’s when I first started listening to podcasts - on the subway to work or walking home from running errands. But now that I’m addicted to so many, I listen to them a lot more.

If I’m doing really low energy work, like copy and pasting numbers or formulas in spreadsheets, I’ll put one on in the background. I also listen to podcasts cleaning and doing things around the house, so podcasts have made my apartment so much cleaner and more organized.

What podcasts do you listen to?

Some of my favorite business podcasts are the Actionable Marketing Podcast from CoSchedule, Being Boss, The Productivity Show, and Online Marketing Made Easy with Amy Porterfield.

My favorite “for fun” podcast is Pop Culture Happy Hour from NPR, because it brings together people all obsessed with different areas of pop culture - music, comic books, comedy, etc. - and they just geek out together. It’s hilarious and wonderful.

Some others I like are show discussion podcasts - they have them for so many shows now, but my favorite is Gilmore Guys.

Are there any podcast episodes that have had a big impact on your life, business, or thinking?

Being Boss’s episode about “The Chalkboard Method” has been really helpful - it motivated me to get better with tracking (and generally paying better attention to) my big goals.
